CNC Slide Table Selection: Travel, Load and Accuracy
Prepare a CNC slide table inquiry with axis travel, moving loads, mounting constraints, guideway references, motion requirements and acceptance conditions.
To specify a CNC slide table, define what moves, the direction and travel of each axis, the applied loads, the available installation space and the required acceptance conditions. Then review the guideway type, mounting drawing, drive and accessories against that application. A table width, payload mass or single accuracy figure is not a complete purchase specification.
This guide is for machine builders, integrators and procurement teams preparing a configuration review. Start with the CNC slide table series to identify the product category. For a project that also includes a spindle head or a complete machine module, use the broader engineering inquiry checklist. The information requested below is a review input, not a statement of capability for every model.
Describe the axes and the installation envelope
Identify whether the slide moves a workpiece, fixture, spindle head or another assembly. Mark the axes, moving parts and installation orientation on a sketch. For a cross slide, state the requirement for each slide separately and relate the axis names to the configuration drawing. Catalogue labels for upper and lower slide travel should not be assumed to mean vertical lifting directions.
Record working travel separately from tool approach, clearance, loading and unloading positions. Include the space occupied by covers, cables and adjacent equipment. Workpiece size does not automatically equal required travel, and travel alone does not define the workpiece capacity of the complete machine. Provide the mounting surfaces, hole pattern, locating references and overall space limits on a drawing with a revision identifier.
Separate moving mass from applied forces
List the mass of the workpiece, fixture, spindle head and all other moving attachments. Show their centres of gravity, overhangs and locations relative to the mounting surface. Describe the direction and location of machining, clamping or other applied forces. Record known forces with units; if these are not known, supply the process, tool and workpiece information for engineering review.
The same mass in a different position should not automatically be treated as the same loading case. State whether the axis is horizontal, vertical or installed in another orientation. If holding, fall prevention or other safety functions are required, identify them and agree the responsibility for their design and integration. A servo motor description alone does not establish that these functions are included.
Keep product mass and permissible load in separate fields. The catalogue heading “Weight (KG)” is not a payload rating. Do not copy it into a load requirement or use a neighbouring model’s data to approve the proposed configuration.
Use catalogue names to identify the configuration
The following examples are identified in the JNYO 2025 public catalogue. They describe that edition, rather than establish current configuration availability:
- LRS180 and LRS220: “CNC Linear Guideway Sliding Table”, printed page 66.
- CRS220, CRS300, CRS360 and CRS500: “NC Cross Rail Slide”, printed pages 73–74. The Chinese heading identifies the cross linear-guide type.
- URS220, URS250, URS300, URS360, URS420 and URS500: “NC hard rail slide”, printed pages 76–78.
- BRS300 and BRS500: “NC Cross Hard Rail Sliding Table”, printed pages 83–84.
Find “2025 JNYO Product Catalog 4.10_Scanned.pdf” on the official download page. Printed page numbers differ from PDF viewer numbers: the examples above are on PDF pages 36, 40, 41–42 and 45. The catalogue states that specifications and structures may change and that the sample is for reference. Confirm the exact configuration and applicable drawing during the inquiry.
The guideway name is an identification starting point. It does not, by itself, approve a load, speed, machining process or accuracy requirement. In particular, do not treat BRS300 and BRS500 dimensions or accessories as interchangeable simply because their catalogue headings describe the same type.
State motion requirements and acceptance criteria separately
Distinguish working feed from rapid positioning. Include acceleration requirements where defined, dwell periods, operating hours and the sequence of moves. A machine cycle also includes loading, clamping, cutting and other operations, so a slide travel speed alone is not a production-rate commitment.
Specify the accuracy characteristic to be inspected, such as positioning, repeat positioning or a defined geometric requirement. State the measurement length, loading condition, temperature, mounting state and agreed inspection method. Keep finished-part tolerances on the workpiece drawing as separate requirements. Acceptance of one slide characteristic does not establish the same result for every feature machined by the complete system.
If only the finished-part drawing and target cycle are available, submit them as inputs. Leave an unassigned axis accuracy or motor-power requirement open for review instead of inventing a value to complete the form.
Define integration and service responsibilities
Provide the power supply and control-system requirements, together with the intended interfaces. Identify who supplies the motor, drive, sensors, covers and lubrication equipment. Review the proposed components against the mounting and interface drawings; a general reference to CNC control does not prove compatibility with a particular controller.
Describe exposure to chips, coolant and dust, and allow access for lubrication, inspection, wiring and maintenance. Operating procedures and service intervals must follow the documentation for the delivered configuration. For the broader maintenance topic, see the cross-slide operation and preventive-maintenance guide; it does not replace the configuration-specific manual or machine risk assessment.
Send a configuration review package
- Complete model reference and suffix, or state that selection is still open; identify the catalogue or drawing revision being used.
- Workpiece material, assigned operations, relevant drawing revision and critical acceptance requirements.
- Axis sketch, installation orientation, working travel, approach and loading clearances, and space limits.
- Moving masses, centres of gravity, overhangs and the direction and location of known forces.
- Working feed, rapid moves, cycle sequence, dwell periods and operating schedule.
- Accuracy characteristics, units and inspection conditions, with unresolved items clearly marked.
- Mounting, power, controls, accessories, protection and service-access requirements.
- Required quantity and target project date, with the target distinguished from an agreed supplier delivery date.
Use the JNYO contact page to request a configuration review. Detailed drawings can be discussed through the business contact shown there. Confirm the requirements and configuration before agreeing commercial terms; this checklist is not a quotation, technical agreement or performance guarantee.
Quick answers to CNC slide table selection questions
Is catalogue weight the payload capacity?
No. The catalogue field “Weight (KG)” identifies product mass, not permissible payload. For a load review, list the moving workpiece, fixture and attachments, their centres of gravity, and the direction and location of applied forces.
What is the difference between working travel and installation space?
Working travel describes the required axis movement. The installation review also includes tool approach, loading positions, covers, cables and adjacent equipment. Record these separately on the layout drawing rather than using workpiece size as the travel specification.
Does slide positioning accuracy establish finished-part accuracy?
No. State the slide inspection characteristic and its measurement conditions separately from finished-part tolerances. Acceptance of one component characteristic does not establish every result produced by the complete machine.
For the spindle side of the same project, use the boring and milling head specification checklist. For the combined system, use the power head and slide table inquiry checklist.
